Stony Brook Child Care is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. NAEYC is the nation's largest organization of early childhood educators. We offer a child-centered, multi-cultural learning environment where each child is treated as an individual with needs and interests that are to be respected and supported. Our primary aim is to provide a warm, supportive, creative atomsphere. The center classrooms are "family-grouped", enabling children to interact with others of different ages. We have eight classrooms, 4 for infants and toddlers and 4 for preschoolers. Since children at this stage of their development learn through experience there are plenty of hands on activities that build on a child's sense of security and self-reliance. We also help children build positive self-images. In addition we serve as a teaching model for student interns and the community at large.
