Renewal
by Barbie Kaufman

Barbie

Renewal---We all could use a little renewal this time of year. New Year’s offers us a chance to start over every year. We all get the same chance, but people use that chance of renewal in different ways. It could be taking better care of our finances, changing our attitude at work, or improving our health and trying to lose some weight.

How many people say every year, “This time, I’m really going to lose 20 pounds by Memorial Day so I can look good on the beach this year”? So they join a gym and start a fad diet plan, which both last for about 1 month. Then they are back to their old ways of not exercising, eating everything in sight, and they haven’t lost a pound.

Why do so many people say to themselves, “This year I’m going to do it!” but end up failing miserably? Mostly because they don’t have the support they need or a plan to tackle it the right way. Saying you want to lose 20 pounds by Memorial Day is not an unrealistic goal. In fact, it is extremely reasonable.

From the first week of January until Memorial Day is 21 weeks. Healthy weight loss is 1 to 2 pounds per week. So losing 20 pounds by Memorial Day is a piece of cake. (No pun intended) Sure, easy for me to say, right? Well, yes, it is. In fact, I can honestly say it is possible you can lose 40 pounds in the same time frame! No I am not crazy: I just have the tools to put you on the right track. Keep reading…..

There are so many fad diets out there that promise things which are in no way realistic. And they usually involve some type of “fat-burning” pill or pre-packaged food you have to eat in order to lose the weight. Some of these plans don’t even involve exercise! How can they work for the long term? The truth is they don’t.

Sorry to be the one to break it to you, but the only thing that does work is a healthy eating plan and exercise. My name is Barbie Kaufmann, President of Bodies by Barbie and a new member of Three Village People. I was honored when asked to write this article for the newsletter. My goal is to let people know there is a better way to getting healthy and I am here to offer just that.

We have a team of Personal Trainers and myself, as the Nutritionist, working together to help you achieve your personal best. You want to lose 20 pounds in 20 weeks, let’s get started! And the best part is: you don’t have to join a gym. We come right to your home or office. We can even teach workout classes and train in groups if you have friends or co-workers who want to exercise together. I will personally customize your meal plan with foods you like and you won’t be starving at all, I guarantee it! In fact, you will be eating 5 or 6 times a day.

People ask me all the time, “How can I lose weight when I am eating all this food?” Well, with the challenging workouts that we put you through you are going to need the fuel. Not to mention, the more times you eat a day, the faster your metabolism speeds up, naturally!

I am so excited to be a part of this great organization ThreeVillagePeople.com and I want to extend to each reader a Free Personal Training Session just for reading this article. If you would like to get started and begin your renewal process the right way, please call me at 631-873-8175 and mention this article. Or log on to my website at www.bodiesbybarbie.com

This year keep your #2 resolution:

Get Organized…Finally!

By Eileen Koff

Eileen Koff

We all know that our number one resolution each New Year is to loose weight. Did you know that the number two resolution is to “get organized”?

I have found that most people start each January with great enthusiasm. However, unless you recognize what this process will look like and you work up a realistic time-frame and plan, the “ get organized” resolution will get side-tracked almost immediately.

Let’s review “What is “organized?” Here’s how I think of it: Four simple questions:

1. Does it work?
2. Do you like it?
3. Does it work for the people you care about?

And finally,

4. How quickly can you recover?

It seems that I am facing that last question virtually every day – sometimes several times a day – and I bet you are too!

And that is the perfect lead-in to what I want to talk about: The tools of organizing.

The Tools of Organizing

As my daddy used to say where I grew up, “Half of any job is having the right tool!” In my experience, a crucial aspect of being able to “recover” from anything is having the right tool. Many people spend a significant amount of time and money buying organizing tools which just end up being more clutter, because they didn’t address the questions necessary to determine what tool is the best tool for the job – or the best tool for them.

Eighty percent of what organizing professionals do is help people choose and use the right tools. Unfortunately, many organizing professionals get poor ratings from their clients’ long term, because they fail to choose tools that will enable their clients to maintain the systems they set up long after the organizer is gone!

In 2008, I’m sure you can relate that paper and desk pile-ups are the number one cause of frustration and disorganization.

At To the Next Level we have identified a basic group of tools that every individual needs to organize their desk.

In/Out/File

“In” tray – for new mail and papers you haven’t looked at.
“Out” tray – for items that need to go elsewhere
“File” tray – for papers you need to file outside the reach of where you sit.
Wastebasket/Recycle bin/Shredder
Calendar System/s – for managing your time and appointments
Contact Management System/s – address book, Rolodex and/or an electronic database
Action Files -- for files containing papers that are currently active. Things you need to do, or see that someone else does. These can be sorted in 3 ways:

By date (1-31 for each day of the current month, and Jan-Dec for the upcoming months)
By type of action (e.g., “Data Entry,” “Orders Pending” “Waiting for Response, to call, events, to decide”)
By name of project (garage renovation) or subject (Computer back-up Systems)
Reference Files – for files containing papers you need or just want to keep. (When you run out of reference file space, you can create Archive Files – just another type of Reference File that is located in another location other than the office.)

Now, here’s the important part! The key is that each of the tools can match your style. For example, there are hundreds of types of calendars. Choosing the one that works best for you is crucial to your success in getting and staying organized. No one calendar will work for everyone – in spite of what some companies say!

Obviously there are dozens of other tools you might need – from a favorite container on your desk to hold your pens and pencils to a proprietary software program for managing your projects or your inventory.

Here are 4 of my current favorite tools:

• Freedom Filer- I have lots of information on this incredible self-purging system. Go to www.tothenextlevel.net and scroll down until you find Freedom Filer. There you will find a link to help you understand why this system is my number one best seller.
• Planner Pad – in spite of my love for technology, I still prefer a paper calendar!
• Levenger’s “pocket briefcase” for holding index cards to capture my ideas and reminders wherever I am.
• Dymo LabelWriter to make labels effortlessly and aesthetically.

In 2008, I am proud to announce my 10th year anniversary. For the first 10 new clients that book a proposal with To the Next Level, I will give a 10% discount. Now, you can get organized in 2008 AND save!

Take stock of your home.....

Will Real Estate Regulate in '08?

By Michael Ardolino,
Associate Broker,
Coldwell Banker

Michael Ardolino

Happy New Year! It's hard to believe that we are at this time of year again....the time of year when everyone focuses on renewal. We renew our ties with old acquaintances. We revisit our resolutions for personal growth and improvement. We reshuffle our priorities and revise our life plans. And inevitably, every year, we take a fresh new look at the real estate market and consider how it will affect us, whether in terms of actually selling or buying a home or in terms of the current value of that
home on the family's balance sheet.

People have been asking me about my slant on what happened in 2007 and what to expect in 2008. Of course, I have no crystal ball, but I've been observing market trends and fluctuating prices for over 20 years. This experience has taught me that it's important to keep things in perspective.

In many parts of the country, price declines and home sale figures have been much more severe than on Long Island. Boston, parts of the Southwest, and much of Florida are prime examples. And in other areas, such as Cleveland, foreclosure percentages have been devastating for some neighborhoods. So although our market has not been performing as well as we'd all like, at least we have been spared the sorts of numbers that are being posted elsewhere.

Also on the upside, mortgage rates are still low, and may drift even lower by the Spring selling season. As of this writing, the 30-year fixed rate is the lowest it has been in several years. Plus, the Federal Reserve's careful attention, and apparent willingness to continue to lower rates, is likely to help.

Furthermore, I expect 2008 to bring quality buyers with excellent credit ratings. With mortgage loans harder to get, only the most highly qualified applicants will be able to secure them. This is good for sellers and good for the market in general. After all, getting a buyer to agree to your price does you no good if that buyer cannot get a loan and complete the transaction!

Keep in mind too that it's easy to throw around catchy buzzwords like "meltdown," and "crisis." But the fact is, thankfully, these terms simply do not apply to our local market. In fact, many observers are still debating whether they actually even apply to the nation's harder-hit markets.

Another positive sign is that as of this writing, the National Association of Realtors has upwardly revised its latest outlook for the number of 2008 home sales nationally. However, for our local market, I still would err on the side of caution and expect more of a decline through midyear. After that, I think the market will remain balanced for the remainder of the year. A balanced market, neither boom nor bust, is good for everyone, and for the economy in general.

If you're thinking of entering a real estate transaction this year, call me. I can give you individual advice based on your particular situation. And meanwhile, visit my website at www.Ardolino.com. It's full of information for both buyers and sellers.
Best wishes for 2008!

Take stock of your finances.....

Financial Review for the New Year

by Camille DiLieto

omage

The New Year's Ball in Times Square has dropped. All the parties and holiday celebrations have ended. Now we can look ahead to the 2008 New Year as a time of hope and renewal.
Many of us may have fear and apprehension about our finances in 2008 because of the uncertainty in the world and the fluctuating market. Even though our investments may be producing some income, part of us feels that we could be doing better. We wonder what effect the presidential election will have on our US economy. What if the oil prices rise again because of some unforeseen conflict? Will the market continue to drop?

The definition of renewal is to make new or fresh again, to reestablish; revive or to put in a fresh supply. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a new financial advisor that could revive our portfolio, reestablish our confidence in the market and give us a fresh outlook on our wealth potential? Steven Pagartanis, LUTCF, RIA of Omega Planning Associates can offer you this fresh start by maximizing your wealth potential through his proven system. He knows how to make his clients feel secure about their finances because of his expertise, personal service and professionalism.

Call 631-689-5900 for your no obligation consultation and see how your wealth can grow for your present and future needs. Steven Pagartanis of Omega Planning Associates can be found on Professional Avenue at ThreeVillagePeople.com or www.omegaplanning.com.

6. Don’t leave home without healthy snacks– fruits, veggies, nuts, salads, creative sandwiches – buy 100% whole wheat bread and pile on the vegetables!

Don't forget to make the most of your technology......

“Your Computer Needs to Stay Healthy Too!!”
by Richard Schierer

makemytechsimple

I cannot tell you how many times, especially in the last 2 months that clients have come to me with laptops and desktop computers that have been infected by viruses. There must be a real nasty one out there because most of the recent problems have been viruses that have disabled the computers hard drives. Most viruses do not affect the hardware of a computer. When I refer to the computers hardware, I am talking about the hard drive, the memory, the motherboard, the modem and graphics adapters, the keyboard and mouse. Most viruses do one of a few things… One, they download a piece of ‘code’ into your computers operating system [Windows XP or Vista] and it lays dormant until the hacker that put it there needs to take control of your PC so he can use it as part of a DOS [Denial of Service] attack. What this does is allows the hacker to take control of thousands of PCs worldwide and have them flood a specific website with requests for access. There are so many requests that the website’s server cannot handle them and the server crashes! Effectively putting that website out of service until it can be repaired. Think of this as someone that does not like Macy’s and decides to bring their website down during the holiday season. Think of how much in sales that Macy’s will lose for every hour that their website is down and no one can place an order thru it!

Another reason hacker’s place ‘code’ on your PC is so that it will send them back specific information that is contained in your PCs files. Without you even knowing that this is happening, the code sends a copy of specific files. For all of us that use Quicken, we know that the program backs up our information every so often. Well imagine the ‘code’ taking a copy of those files and sending it to the hacker who wrote it?! He opens up the files in his own version of Quicken and has all your bank account numbers and such.

Another way hackers get our information is thru emails. We have all received emails from such companies as Washington Mutual, Best Buys, and Citibank, right? Ever see one that states that their database servers have crashed and that you need to click on the enclosed link to go to their website and enter your user id and pin so that they can add you back to their database server? First no reputable company will ask you for your user id and pin or password via an email. Secondly, by the time you have entered the information in their website link, within 5 seconds your bank accounts with those banks have been wiped clean!

I started off this article by telling you about problems with computers that viruses had damaged. One of the least expensive tools you can use to foil all these hackers is just common sense. Never open emails from people that you don’t know. Delete them right away. The second tool is to purchase a name brand antivirus package such as Symantec, McAfee, AVG, etc. But just because you bought the package, does not mean that you have a current subscription to their antivirus signatures. You need to have your computer configured so that it downloads the latest and greatest antivirus signatures every night, runs a full scan every night and downloads all of the necessary Windows operating system patches every night.

A friend once said that he did purchase the software, did have a subscription, but only ran a scan once a week. I said to him…”So that is like telling me that you only lock your front door once a week?!”

If you want a computer to run right, it has to be serviced and checked once in a while. You change the oil and filter on your car a few times a year, don’t you????

The internet is an integral part of businesses today. Make sure to review your internet needs......

Ask The Internet Expert Q&A

by Jesse Wroblewski

Generations beyond

Q: By not having my business on the web I know I am missing out on thousands of potential customers, but I am so intimidated by the computer, I have no idea where to begin!

A: Congratulations on recognizing the incredible potential of internet marketing! Putting your business on the web will expand your audience by leaps and bounds at very little expense. Because getting started in the world of HTML, PHP and FTP can be very
intimidating, here are 3 tips to help eliminate your fears and get you on your path to internet success immediately!

#1 Don’t be intimidated! Don’t hesitate!
Get online TODAY!

Possibly the biggest mistake I see people make is hesitating to finally get their business online. At the very least get your contact information online. Any reputable, cost-effective designer should be able to get your business online within 24 hours, for about the cost of one decent lunch per month! This will allow your business to begin getting noticed by search engines and will allow customers to find you. So don’t wait a minute longer!

#2 Secure an established designer!
I often hear from new website owners who have trouble contacting their designers, some of whom just disappear! Think twice before hiring a fly-by-night design firm or “buddy” who might abandon you midway through your project. Check for a diverse portfolio and/or references!

#3 Use “worry-free” web hosting!
Web hosting is like paying rent on the internet. Hosting may not be included with your webpage design so be sure to ask your designer how much this will run! Save yourself the headache of dealing with website downtime and glitches and hire yourself a reliable web host. Your website should be up and working all the time. With each moment it isn’t you could be losing money!

Ask The Expert!
Send your internet questions to:

Copy right !

Why You Need A Professional Copywriter When It Comes To Producing Your Company’s Web Page.

By Lon S. Cohen, Copywriter.

lon cohen

About 80% of all the hits that a web page gets, comes from a search engine like Google or Yahoo. This is a large chunk of traffic and ignoring that statistic is perilous for anyone who wishes to attract customers to their websites. The reason that so many hits come through search engines is that most people believe that when they put in a search query, the result that they get is trustworthier than any other type of result, i.e. Pay-Per-Click Ads, Banner, Paid Placement, etc. This is called an organic result, because the programming behind the search engine found the result naturally, and not by having the web site’s owners paying to be the top result. So getting your website to the top of that organic query is number one priority for all web site managers.

If you “optimize” your website with carefully chosen and placed “keywords” then traffic should naturally come to you, through search engines. There are two tricks to getting this done:

1) A search engine’s programming (sometimes called an algorithm) has to find your page on the web.

2) Your web page must be attuned to the right keywords that customers are searching for when they look for your products or services.

Not only that, you want to make sure that in the list of websites that appear when a potential customer does a search query through their favorite search engine, yours is one top (or as close to it as you can get.) Since consumers feel that organic results are best, this will only help you when they find you “naturally” on the web.

Now, natural results are a matter of course here. Program algorithms, HTML, tags, text, etc. all deem how things work on the Internet but like biology, there is a certain untamed flow to the whole enterprise that even mimics natural selection and evolution. Everything you can do to get your web page get to the top of the food chain helps you get noticed on the web and sell more of what you offer. The first and simplest method of getting yourself found by search engines and the consumers doing the searching is to get that copy optimized.

While some people may search for one keyword, like “scarf,” “beer,” or “art,” many use a string of terms to find what they need like “wool scarf,” “IPA beer,” or “modern art.” Most even use longer terms, a combination of terms or even whole sentences to search for what they are looking for.

Look at your web copy. Does it satisfy all the possible search terms that customers may be using? Do you utilize tags, titles, headlines, and optimized copy to capture that business? Do you know all the terms? Do you know how to use them eloquently so it doesn’t look like you are “stuffing” the HTML with random words you think may get you noticed?

While it may be satisfying to set up, publish and even host your own business’ website, the scary thing is that you may be the only one who cares or even notices. A webpage needs to shout out to the world that you are open to business and here are the things you offer to the public in a real and virtual way. Yes. You may be the expert in your particular field of interest and have the knowledge of the terminology that your customers look for when they seek you out, but how do you get those disjointed terms and keywords onto he computer screens of potential clients?

For that you might need a professional copywriter.

Lon S. Cohen is a copywriter and columnist. His company, AHA!, helps business communicate effectively on the web and beyond. Call him at (631) 371-9044 or email at aha@lonscohen.com.

Why Psychotherapy PLUS Life Coaching Actually Works (especially if you’re interested in “The Secret”)

by Beth Miller

Is Your Desire To Be Happier A Gift?
You may have heard about my groups “Creating Your Amazing Life With The Law of
Attraction: How To Master The Principles Of “The Secret” ), which I discuss more below.
For now, let’s talk about happiness. Frankly, most of us would love to feel happier and our
ideas about happiness have many different shapes: perhaps being in a loving relationship,
finally losing weight, or having an easier time with your teenager is your idea of happiness.
Maybe you want to finally get past your childhood, feel balanced throughout the day, or get
your career to match up with your potential. Or perhaps you’ve had an awakening that there is more…
you realized that you want to feel happy and satisfied regardless of the ups and downs of life, that you
want inner peace.

Having the desire to be happier is a gift- it lets us know that we really value our lives, that
we don’t wish to squander them, and we want to be our best selves. If you feel
unhappy, exhausted, drained, or negative it may be time to get in charge of your emotions,
gain control of your thoughts and beliefs, and make choices and changes that create the life
you really want. If you are ready to feel “happier”, we can customize a plan and a path
that will actually get you there.

When Did “Just Getting By” Become Good Enough?
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker that treated clients suffering with severe anxiety,
depression, and sexual abuse for many years, I discovered an interesting concept. My
clients and I were doing a beautiful job of helping them to heal their lives and create a
functional existence. Yet, I realized that they deserved more than just functional, they
deserved to feel incredibly happy and to thrive.

This inspired me to read everything I could about human
growth and to return for 400 more professional training hours to become a
Certified Life Coach. The changes I saw in my clients were as inspiring as the changes
I experienced in myself: that is, both they and I felt happier, more peaceful, more
“connected”. We dreamed bigger and accomplished our goals, we made more money,
became healthier, reduced our weight, and created more loving relationships.

Even if you’re not depressed or anxious, you might feel like you are just “getting by” or
“through” everyday. If this feels uninspiring or draining to you, it makes sense.
It may be time for you to consider that this is your life and you have every reason to expect
to love it and to feel like you are creating it…not just reacting to it.

What’s Different About Psychotherapy PLUS Life Coaching?
What I discovered is that the combination I created of healing Psychotherapy PLUS
action-oriented Life Coaching enabled us to live the lives we really wanted.
Simply talking about the problem- the standard in most psychotherapy-
just doesn’t work as well. By using some very advanced techniques, I help clients to heal their problems,
shift energy, discover who they really and what they want, create new thoughts, and remove barriers.
Meanwhile, I teach them skills and techniques, assign practice exercises, and walk step-by-step with
them into a life that they define as truly happy.

It’s doesn’t matter to me if you have a lot of “issues” or very few- either way, you deserve to
have someone entirely devoted to helping you to create your happiest life. Most of us want
to do more than just survive, we want to thrive by feeling content and successful.
Psychotherapeutic healing PLUS action-oriented coaching actually enables that to
happen.

How to Attract What You Want, Not What You Don’t
You’ve may have heard about the The Secret and my Group “Using The Law of Attraction to
Create Your Amazing Life” that has members creating lives that they love while being
supported by other amazing like-minded women. Adolescents or adults that attend one of
my groups or see me individually are finding that learning about how to attract the lives they
want, while taking action steps to get there, allows them to feel more peaceful and successful

Year that Is New...

by Rev. Amy Plympton

angel

Although its’ cold outside and most things living are at rest, something new is happening. The notion of time as measured in seconds, minutes, hours and years determines the next annual numerical increment. 2007 is nearly past, 2008 awaits us. We anticipate; a positive or negative future yet to be seen. No matter the circumstances, each person’s responses determine their individual, personal mindset, tone, or demeanor. The reaction we have to news, (as reported by whatever media chosen) weather, (fair or foul) economy, (bullish or bearish) politics, (independent, democrat or republican) love, (or hate) relationships, (family or friends) work (or retirement) makes up our lives. Circumstances happen. There’s another expression for that, but I refrain. At this time of the new, look to God for energy, the very life-giving power to anticipate the future and circumstances with hope. Hope lives and by God, moves us to a better understanding of the ‘stuff’ that happens all around. The ‘good’ and the ‘bad’ have purpose as intended by God. How each of us view it and work with it or avoid it affects life as marked in years, days, hours and seconds. God give us the grace to move through with hope.

2 Peter 3 14-16 Since everything here today might well be gone tomorrow, do you see how essential it is to live a holy life (i.e. live for God)? Daily expect the Day of God (i.e. God’s return) eager for its arrival. The galaxies will burn up and the elements melt down that day – but we’ll hardly notice. We’ll be looking the other way, ready for the promised new heavens and the promised new earth, all landscaped with righteousness.

Whatever comes in the year that is new, God is in control. We are in control of our response. God, give us what we need to live well. Live for God, only by the energy (i.e. grace) of God.

A Healthier You In 2008 and Beyond?
by Dr. Henri Rosenblum POWER ON Chiropractic and Nutrition
Dr. Henri

What will you do differently to achieve better health in 2008, and beyond? Have you considered the many health benefits you will attain through a relationship with a Wellness Doctor?

Are you overweight? Did you know that while diets may temporarily help you lose weight, they slow your metabolism and ultimately make you heavier with a higher percentage of body fat?  Do you rely on over the counter remedies to get you through the day or night? Do you take prescription drugs that never cure anything, and require you to get blood work done every three months to monitor if you have destroyed your liver yet? Do you take nutritional supplements? Do you know that most supplements are based on “junk science” and are a complete waste of money? Do you get your nutritional advice from an expert, or from the employee at GNC, or even worse from television commercials? Do you read food labels and truly understand which ingredients are good or bad for you, or even deadly? Do you suffer with “normal” headaches? Do you feel older than your years? When was the last time you had your spine and nervous system checked? Ask yourself, “when was the last time I felt good, felt great?” Do you think  your health will improve in 2008 by doing the same things as before?

What about your children? Have they been diagnosed ADHD or tagged with some other label, then prescribed drugs never tested on children? Is their ability to learn in school and excel in sports compromised because most of their diet is actually toxic to their system, provides little nutrition and makes them fat, lethargic and prone to all kinds of illness? Are you aware that antibiotics which are grossly over prescribed kill both bad and good bacteria and that your child’s body requires good bacteria to digest  food, absorb vital nutrients, and allow their immune system to function? Does your child suffer with asthma, allergies, and chronic infections of their ears and throat? Is your child one of millions already well on their way to obesity, clogged arteries,
diabetes, and a lifetime of prescription drug dependency?  Have you been told that chiropractic care will not help your child’s condition and may harm your child while numerous studies prove how extremely beneficial the care is, and that not a single case has been brought against a chiropractor for injuring
a child in the United States in over five years?

I’m a Wellness Doctor. I live a wellness lifestyle. So do my wife and children. We are not overweight. We don’t have high cholesterol, triglycerides or blood pressure. We don’t suffer with allergies, asthma, constipation, GERD or other diagnosed conditions. We rarely take dangerous prescription or over the counter drugs, except in real emergencies. We rarely get sick, but when we do our immune system is already strong and ready to function at its best. We owe these benefits to the healthy lifestyle choices we make year round that include
a healthy diet, the best nutritional supplements as proven by science, and regular chiropractic care.

If you want to become a healthier You in 2008 and beyond it is easier than you think. Simply make choices that lead to improved health. For you and your family, I’m here to serve you and show you how.

We have met many of the owners of the businesses and the artists that make up this wonderful neighborhood at Three Village People.com. We all have the same goal and Wendy Martin wants to help us all grow our businesses.

Advertising Works is celebrating their 10th anniversary this year with more of a focus on the businesses in the 3 Village area. Our goal is help businesses put a new shining face on their businesses and themselves by upgrading their company look and promoting their businesses the same way we are doing for Sitescapes, The Law Offices of Linda M. Toga, P.C., Frey Wealth Management, To The Next Level, The World Adhesion Foundation, Twomey, Latham, Shea, Kelley, Dubin & Quartararo LLP, Powerhouse Gym, Sweetleaf Boutique, Soundview Heating & A/C and of course Three Village People.com.

Our formula is to make sure your logo, brochures, flyers, web site and overall store look makes you look great. It’s not as expensive as you think to upgrade yourself and in most cases a few new clients pays for it all. When the look is there, publicizing yourself will pay major dividends. What you might not think is a press opportunity might be a perfect one for you. We will help you get press for your company!
We are excited to be part of the neighborhood and look forward to meeting you and adding you to our growing list of Three Village clients.

foggy days

foggy days have their own appeal
the World’s sharp edges seem less real
the glow behind a softened lens
reveals what harsher light conceals

the senses sharpen through the mist
the eyes must ask for mind’s assist
our dreams emerge in subtle hue
from places where our hopes persist

I wonder if the light up there
continues in its stellar glare,
or if it sleeps in pleasant peace
while I have time for quiet prayer

Make More Family Time with Help in the Kitchen.
By Charlene Burton, Editor

charlene burton

It seems these days there are more gadgets and gizmos to make our life easier and more enjoyable than ever before. Yet our lifestyles now require two incomes, with both parties pitching in with all phases of family life, actually leaving less time for family life! And those gadgets that are supposed to make things easier seem to be one more thing to deal with. New fangled appliances seem to have a life span of a millisecond, email, though very convenient, can become just one more thing to check and be responsible for. Then we have all those coupons and special offers to keep track of. What day am I supposed to go to Kohls for 20% off, and can I squeeze it in between picking one child up at soccer and the other two across town at swimming? Ordering on the internet saved me a lot of time this Christmas, but my credit card info was stolen and that has taken hours of time to fix and still is not resolved. On top of all this, WHAT'S FOR DINNER?????

Wouldn't it be great to have one less HUGE thing to worry about during the week??? Is such a thing possible??? Wouldn't it be great if there was a magical genie that would do your food shopping, cook several meals in advance, store them AND clean up after himself? Well actually there is. It's true. I am not kidding, and his name is Lance Kindberg of Prestige Personal Chef Service. Chef Lance wants his "passion for beautiful, high quality food" to improve your life!"

Lance Kindberg says has always loved cooking and food, not so much the food, but "the care and attention that goes into making something to nurture the people around you." He credits his Dad for being his greatest inspiration and developing his appreciation for food. As a young man he helped his father with his home based catering business by washing dishes and helping out where ever necessary. He learned that he himself truly loved to cook as well. He enjoyed the nurturing family aspect of the dinner table. This dedication to family values is an important asset to his business. Lance is a person who instills comfort and confidence, exactly what you would look for in a person who is going to, in a sense, care for your family. His professionalism, dedication and strong work ethic will make him an invaluable addition to your life. And lets face it, with dinner planning out of the way, there is more time for the family to come together and truly enjoy their dining experience. I can't promise you that you won't find yourself using the extra time occasionally to do an extra load of laundry, a business call, and or sort the mail, but I guarantee you will breathe a sigh of relief knowing that such a big chore has been lifted from you. On top of all that, I can personally tell you that his food is spectacular. An added bonus of my two part interview with Chef Lance was a sumptuous lunch of roast chicken with star anise jus, sweet potato puree and sauteed brussel sprout leaves. He even shared some of his cooking secrets with me!

So when you are planning your year ahead, if time management is a concern on your list, consider hiring a Personal Chef. (He also caters holidays, parties, and special events). It is certainly well worth the cost, and for Lance, helping you to nurture your family, by giving you time while offering delicious nourishment, is well worth the effort.
